ADE CARES

The idea for this team came when a group of friends were discussing about the women of our country.   They decided to continue their discussion by forming unofficial team and named it “ADE Cares”. “Ade”, whose initials stands for “Ahwat Diaspora Eritrea”, means Mother in Tigrigna and the word “Ahwat” defines brothers and sisters.   Ade is a team that has been created by a group of friends who found themselves discussing about the women of Eritrea in several occasions and they then decided to form this team unofficially.  This team found the name to be all inclusive and hoped it would inspire them to the values traditionally attributed to a mother.  A mother always sides with the children who are in need.  

The group of friends, in their intention to support their disadvantaged sisters both inside and outside the country believed more people can give better advice and decided to have a coffee gathering and invite others. An idea of conducting a small fundraising to support an entity that is already working to help women, during the gathering received support.  As a result, they had a fund raising brunch event at Riverside Park where they collected $2,000 and donated it to the Eritrean Women’s Cultural Center in Tel Aviv.  

The decision to support the Eritrean Women’s Cultural Center in Tel Aviv was based on the fact that it is an officially registered NGO, with an established bank account and has been supporting women since 2011.  The center provides language, Computer Literacy, and Women and Child health education.  It ensures that women receive support during pregnancy and child birth.  The center is operated by Eritrean women and receives help from Israeli women volunteers.  

The team is in the process of formalizing its organization and hopes to hold another fund raising event in the near future.  If you wish to participate in future events either by sharing ideas, giving advice, volunteering or donating, please fill the membership form.
